When I hit some ice I have tried to wind up my motor rpms but something causes my engine to bog down and not rev up on the ice. This is not normal for the twenty or so cars I've had before over 30+ years driving OR.

If I shut my traction control off will that let my motor rev free?

Note if you pull the injectors to obserbe fuel delivery...make sure you leave the plugs in and disconnect the ign. Believe me

iirc, your engine has a computer controlled thorottle body, so there is no physical cable opening the thorottle blade. so the computer wont let it rev up when it sees that your spinning so basically you hit the gas it sees you spinning and says oh hes spinning, cut the thorottle so it wont spin.

Actually, it doesn't.

But traction control does ruin a wheel spin party pretty quickly by firing of ABS, and pulling timing.

Turn off traction control, you should be okay. The computer still pulls timing with torque management, but you should still spin pretty good on ice.

Yeah about it imo too. Or maybe it's gearing. LIke the wheels are spinning like its in 3rd or whatever and more gas just makes it bog?

LOTS of Mods
the car will actually apply the brakes long with reducing engine timing when it senses wheel spin, regardless if the TC is on or off

I didn't have any problem with it in the ice today. I had the shifter in 2nd and it acted normally.

Be careful when coming off of ice and onto dry pavement. If you're spinning your tires at 80 MPH and you come in contact with dry pavement, there's a good chance you will nuke the trans.

Why are you trying to induce crazy wheel spin on ice?

Totally missed your post RJolly--thanks. It is a lot nicer to drive in a lot of ways than with it on. I guess I'll probably just turn it off all the time.

Carl I got the part about coming off dry pavement. Is there any way that could be good for my car? Just hooks up and rocks the Drive train hardcore. You only try that once :)

Drivetrain shock is no bueno. Your input shaft is crying when you do something like that.
