Just wondering how accurate it is and if mine is acting wonky or not? If I let the car idle I can see the MPG go down every ten seconds or so. For instance today I let the car heat up for about ten minutes and saw my average went from 21 to 16. is this normal, or an indicator of a problem. I understand idling eats up MPG but to this extent?

I'd like to think it's just because your idling, although my mpg is 18.6 consistently

right, but it seems to be hyper sensitive literally has gone down to 12 MPG after idling for 15 or so minutes while I helped push someone out of a ditch. Is there a sensor that may be wonky or any advice or is this normal behavior or is it correct and a signal of a deeper issue at play? Thanks Gentlemen

If you reset the fuel economy reading, then it will fluctuate more until you have driven 25-50 miles, then it should not change much when idling.

The longer you drive on the average after you reset it the harder it will be to change due to it averaging more and more time, distance, and fuel burnt.
