Extremely hard to tell what is going on there, the tach is very important to see as it is a clear indicator as to if the engine is running or not which is not as easy to tell from just watching the video as you might think.

It looks the dash lights and everything die at the same time, then when you hit the key the dash is still dead and the engine won't even turn over at all? If this is the case, the crank sensor is not the problem and I would look at your battery cables as well as every ground you can find, pull them all and make sure they are clean, corrosion free, and tight when you put them back together. A crank sensor or MAF sensor will not kill everything like that, all the dash lights and everything would stay on. The dash lights cutting out like that is a clear indicator of an electrical circuit problem.

When the engine dies the oil pressure tach drops to zero the battery tach drops just below mid way point the power steering goes however headlights and all other accessories will mostly remain on, a few times the accessories radio and heat will shut off for a second when she dies but will pick up again a second after while the engine and power steering remains dead until you restart her.


I just went out to try to start it again and it acted even more strangely (see videos) it wouldn't start at all or turn over at all the dash lights would come on for a very brief period then go off when the dash lights were off the headlights flickered on and off very quickly like strobe lights and it sounded as if someone was typing very fast on an old type writer or a odd clicking sound from the dash. Did mange to get it started and it died again shortly thereafter didn't bother to continue to mess with it. Something electrical? It didn't do this earlier during the day time, odd. :helpsmilie:

I checked the battery cables and connections looked solid battery in under 2 months old as well. Going to take her to my mechanic at 5 see if shes throwing codes and have him take a look at her. Any further ideas as to what could be causing this gentlemen?

OK Gentlemen tried her today the tapping sound is actually coming from the back right rear of the car sounds like under the seat where the fuse box is but very hard to tell if its there or from outside under that area.... here's the video of the sound keep in mind as the sound occurs the lights flicker when the sound stops they stop.


Also for the first time today the "service air bag" indicator went on a couple times then off and the traction control light went on and off which is weird because they previous owner had the sensors cut....

Anyone?


I took it to my mechanic, no codes. thought it was the ignition relay swapped it out seemed to work for a short time , now its back to random non starts and the lights headlights flickering like in my videos. I need to get this solved....


He is thinking possibly the ignition switch is bad or has something tweeked in it, that's its shorting/sticking between start and run... I did just have it replaced a month or so ago ? Thoughts

Also since the new relay was installed the temp controls have been switching back and forth from normal settings to this, saying -39 EXT....

So I swapped out the Ignition switch with one from Car Quest (store brand) they were the only store that had one in stock that wouldn't take until Saturday to get here and..................



BOOM solved my problems! Very thankful to have her up and running again! Thanks for all the help along the way! :beerchug:
