My dad is having A/C trouble on his 2001 Park Avenue. The temperature on the drivers side vents are coming out lukewarm while the passenger vents are ice cold. The dual zone mode is turned off. We tried changing the temperatres to full heat and the passenger side is warm while the drivers side is like somewhat warm. We are praying to god that this wont cost a small fortune. Where do I start in fixing this problem?

When the system starts to get low on refrigerant, the driver's side is the first place that exhibits a warmer temperature. However, as the heat also seems to be affected, the problem you have is likely a failing driver's side air mix actuator. This is the location on the Bonneville. It may be the same on the PA.

Would anybody know about how much it costs for the part and the difficulty?
