I just replaced my LIM gasket and when I got it back on noticed that the elbow that comes out of the passenger side of the manifold was leaking, I tried to fix it but then decided it was better to replace it altogether...well here's the fun part, the elbow broke in half and in my attempts of getting it out, the half that I couldn't get out fell in to the manifold :banghead:

Stupid move on my part...but whats the best way to get that out? I have a feeling a new gasket will have to be bought.....

Maybe use a mirror and hook to try to pull it out. You might get better access by removing the alt and it's bracket. If you cannot get it, I would suggest pulling the LIM to get it out. Did you put new ones in or try to re-use the old ones? I suggest getting the aluminum ones when replacing them. Replace them both.

Yeah I tried to use the old elbows when I reinstalled the LIM, and I already have some aluminum ones bought haha. If I can't get it out without taking the manifold off will I have to buy new gaskets? I've run the engine for maybe 45 minutes total since replacing the gaskets. Also, do you know if the coolant passage is hollow? If so I'll just slide that piece to the thermostat side and remove it from there..

It will not slide through, but with the LIM off, you will have better access for the digging. You might be able to reuse the gaskets, but it depends on the sealant used on the end pieces. If they don't seal, you could end up with an oil leak.

Alright. Thanks for the help. Now just to figure out if I have to replace the gasket again...I really don't want to but if it's absolutely necessary then I will.
