2000 SSEi.

Replaced intake, then AC compressor and oil pressure sensor.

Now car is stalling.

When driving it the oil pressure gauge bounces around. When cruising it about 60 come to a stop about 40. Go to take off and car acts like it wants to stall and oil pressure gauge bounces all over.

When trying to maneuver slowly forward and back and it stalls out constantly. Can hardly make a y-turn.

Edit: oh, also I replaced the spark plugs and before this work was done, the car did not have this stalling problem.

I thought it would be TPS, IAC or MAF. But would those cause the bouncing oil pressure?

Not sure if it matters but the MAF sensor has a reman sticker on it.

Any ideas?

The part that is most frustrating, there is no engine light on. I may just try cleaning those sensors and/or swapping them with our other car and see if that helps anything.

Check the fuel pressure and for vacuum leaks.

What kind of plugs and wires?

What prompted you to replace the OPS in the first place?

Unplug the MAF and see if it runs

Already checked all the vacuum lines and they seem to be fine.

The car runs fine, drives fine but when u take off from a stop oil pressure gauge wigs out and car wants to stall sometimes it does stall when moving at parking lot speed.

Pressure gauge was pegged at 120 replaced it and it works fine now. Used new ngk 3951 spark plugs

Oh boy. When and clean the throttle body sensor and built a new hockey puck mount. Got that all put back together, only to find that the starter died.

I swear this poor car must have had a rough life. It's just been one thing after another.

Any advice on the stalling issue?

Possibly a CPS, but when something like this pops after I have just dome something to a machine, of any type, I immediately look to what I have just done and 90% of the time it is the problem or has caused the problem.

So this is why I say look to the vacuum lines, look at the wires and plugs look for stuff that may have shorted out or been broken doing your last job.

You know I was wondering about the CPS, because after replacing the power steering pump, I thought the balancer was bad. So I replaced the balancer, I don't remember banging the CPS or anything but I guess anything is possible.

Checked all the throttle body sensors and they all looked nice and clean and like they SHOULD be working. Thank god, I have this other car, I guess I'll end up just swapping parts until I find the problem. haha

But see what is very weird to me, is the way the oil gauge bounces around it was not doing this after I replaced the sensor. But now when ou go to take off from a stop it reads zero and bounces way up only to sit at 60 when cruising.

please explain CPS relearn? I have never had to do anything before replacing balancer. It has always worked fine. But never had a 00+ before.

Well now I've got this starter problem.

Took the old starter off. I had a spare so tested them both on the bench.

The starter would spin but bendix gear would not pop out. Both starters will spin over but neither will allow bendix gear to come out. The one was known good. But they are both doing the same thing.....

When u turn the key to try to start it does nothin does click or anything as if low battery would do.

There is power to the hot wire on the starter and all fuses look good.

Any ideas?

Car was running fine, parked it. Came back to it the next day and nothing, just won't start.

It is getting power to the starter, it reads volts so power is getting to the starter wires.
Original starter removed, spare put in. No change.
Took a KNOW GOOD, (car was running) and put in on. No start.

So checked all the fuses they are good.

I'm kind of at a loss, if the starter is good and the wires to the starter are getting power and all the fuses are good. What could be causing this problem?

When you turn the key fuel pump charges and gauges sweep and everything but when you turn it to run, it does absolutely nothing. No click, no noises, no anything.

I was wondering if it could be an electrical problem with the security system or what else could cause this?

Sounds like a security issue to me. Not sure beyond that. Hopefully someone sees this quickly.

Well, I've been dealing with it for a couple of days trying to figure out the problem.

Three starters later and 100 fuses and relays, I'm a little frustrated (to say the least).

Wondering if somehow the key went bad or some other security issue. But I can hear the fuel pump running but starter does nothing.

Security light seems to work fine, lights up (as with all other lights and turns off after a few seconds). Not sure if its normal or not. But after those few seconds the battery and service engine light stay on.

EDIT: Also just found some water under the carpet so it looks like I will have to pull the seats and the carpet and clean that out. Is there any wires or grounds in the floor board that could have become corroded or damaged from the water?

Possibly.

Also maybe an ignition switch related issue?

Just found this is search:

Intermittent No Start/No Crank
(Replace Ignition & Start Switch Assembly)

Models:
2001 Oldsmobile Aurora

2000-2001 Pontiac Bonneville
Condition
Some customers may comment that the ignition and start switch assembly in the above listed vehicles may not operate properly resulting in an intermittent no start/no crank condition.

Cause
This condition may be due to plastic particles interfering with the electrical contacts of the ignition switch assembly.

Correction
An improved ignition switch assembly, P/N 25721650, is now available from GMSPO.

Also, found that it could be the key wearing out.

do you know what the codes are? could be as simple as a garbage battery. or when you installed the starter you might have tighten the 10mm and 8mm bolts too tight and cracked the silonoid. try arking the starter and see if it spins up. just some suggestions.

yes. I tried 3 different starters, so I know the starter is fine. But yes, I did ark them and they spun on the bench.

I used an OBDII scanner and there were no codes. Battery tested fine and was working perfectly fine the day prior. It still read 12+ volts.

Yes, the battery ground is right there on the floorboard of the back seat. Follow the Neg cable. With all the systems you have described in this thread it could be a grounding issue or a shorted wire.

Ugly stuff that...

To change the ignition switch you don't need to change the key tumbler, so maybe a new key (same cut as current) and/or a new ignition switch.

I have a blank 00+ PK3 at home in Orland I'm not going to use.
