well i have had my bonny for 1 and a half weeks now and i am weeding through the problems so i can get it up to specs. well my service engine soon light came on yesterday. and i took it to autozone today. he said it was the P0420 code. well he told me that it was the catalytic converters code. he said it was either the cat was defective.(failure possibly due to engine misfire or running condition, large vacuum leak, or engine oil leakage into exhaust-valve guide seals, piston rings.
I don't know where to start first. i was thinking check the cheapest fix first. anyone had this problem before?

Do you know if the cat has ever been replaced? Do you have any other symptoms? Loss of power, blue smoke from the exhaust, low boost?

It's either the cat or the rear O2, but it's likely the cat. Can you smell something hot after you've been driving it? If you crawl under while the car is cold and kick the cat, does it rattle?

well i took it to my mechanic friend and he said that it looks like it is the cat needing to be replaced. well he is going to do it for $200, parts and labor. im getting the Magnaflow direct fit cat from autozone.
