This button fell off of the column, (I think I clipped it with my sleeve?) and now my wipers stay on permanently. Is there anything I can stick in the connections inside (just at the end of the column) to shut my wipers off? It also will permanently leave the washer pump on if I do not separate the connections (I think I am going to stick a piece of paper or something in there to sever the connection). 2002 Bonneville

Can you try to push the button back in place?

You can remove the fuse in the mean time. You might need to buy a new windshield wiper stalk, I have several for $20.

I actually had it fly off just as I got to work so I didn't have time to find it (the button) in my car. I will look over lunch. I did find a very tiny spring, which I am assuming held the button pressed out. Will keep you updated, thanks for the quick reply.

Are the fuses labeled/do you know which one to remove? Thanks.

Year and Trim: 2002 SE?
This happened to my 2002 as well. I have been able to find the springs a couple times and place them back in. I just have to release the button softly or else it will spring out again. The button itself contains two hook fasteners to lock on the inside of the shaft and they are slightly bent inward, which allows for the button to come flying out. It only comes out when my wife uses the car because she forgets to release it softly. I have to go back to the junkyard and they gave me a free spring last time I could not find it. This time, my mom borrowed the car and I've looked for over an hour trying to find that tiny thing. What makes me the most upset is that they run through an entire bottle of washer fluid when they do this to me, but it's still funny when you find out they've been driving for like an hour with the wipers on - on a sunny day with everyone staring at them, lol!

harofreak00, do you still have some of these shafts available? If so, are they easy to install? I may just stick to placing the springs back in if I would have to take the column apart.
