Hello good people!

I am in the midst of purchasing a 2000 SLE that has 77,000 miles on the clock. It is in great shape and was owned by the proverbial "old lady". My first question; if I recollect correctly, I only saw one exhaust pipe on this ride. Does that sound right? All the other ones I have seen on here appear to have dual exhaust.

I will post a pic of the car as soon as I have one.

Welcome to the club.
I’m no expert for sure, but I’m pretty sure it’s the SSEi”s that have the dual exhaust. My 2000 SE only has one exhaust pipe.

SLE's would have two as well. The main pipe splits between the rear suspensions and goes to two mufflers.

Welcome!!

Your SLE should have dual exhaust, it's possible that one was broken off somehow.

I suspect that I actually am the owner of a fancy SE. As I stated in my other similar post, the car has some features that I didn't expect on the SE; leather, auto climate control, spoiler and steering wheel controls, to name a few. :dontknow:

I stopped to check out the car this afternoon. It has only one exhaust tip and it is a standard round pipe on the passenger side of the car.

I pick up the car tomorrow. Will learn more then.

Yeah, that makes much more sense. It's basically an SLE without the cladding, 17" wheels and suspension, lol.

Yep that would be a loaded SE...

Pretty good chance it will have the 3.05 performance gear ratio too...

Being new to these cars, is this ratio a good thing? Please explain the variations and differences.

Thanks!!

Fuel economy Ratio is 2.86.... This is a tall ratio and is sluggish off the line... The 3.05 ratio is more performance oriented and gets you going better, also has a bit of a stall converter to get the engine into its torque curve better... Yes the 3.05 is a nice thing...lol

How would I determine which ratio is in this car?

The RPO codes on your spare tire cover will match one of the transaxle ratios in this list.

It has been determined that I, most likely, have a fancy, heavily optioned SE, not an SLE.
