My a/c does not blow cold on my 2000 ssei. It was recharged but that only lasted a litle while. Is this alkways a pump replacement or can it be something less expensive.

Could be a leak in the system. There are orings in the lines at some spots. Best way it to take it to a certified mechanic that works on AC. They will recharge the system a little bit and put a UV dye in.

On my 98 C1500 it was due to a leaking valve and was a simple fix, but not all of us are that lucky. Like 01bonneSC said I'd have a shop take a look at it.

Or you can go to Walmart and get a can of r134a, and a pressure guage, and add some yourself. About a 10 minute job, and you want to get the PSI of the system running in the 45-50 psi range. Will also help avoid the a/c problem of the left side blowing warm air while right side blows cold, which is also due to low r134a pressure.

torero500 that puts him back in the same spot in a few days.

I concur, have them add some dye to the system and inspect for leaks.

If you have a really slow little leak, one service normally lasts the whole season. But if you find that a recharge doesn't last that long, or at least through the summer season, then sure consider making repairs to the system.

It's not the best for your system, not to mention the environment, to allow the system to leak out, no matter how slowly. It can cause damage to your compressor if it leaks out, so it's worth getting it fixed when it's $50 before it becomes a $700 repair.
