I tried to start the car yesterday and received the Service Theft System message on the DIC. The Security (steady on), Service Engine Soon, and Battery lights are also on.

Has anyone encountered this before or does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you.

Ignore the SES light and the battery light, they come on when you try to start the car.

Thanks for the reply.

These are the only lights that remain on when the key is left on the 'on' position. Shouldn't the SES and battery light go off after the initial start-up cycle?

I'm at a complete loss as to what is going on.

They go off when the engine turns on.

Have you tried disconnecting the battery for a bit? Touch the cables together to help discharge the system, then hook it all back together and try again.

Does the engine crank?

No, the engine does not crank. I am going to try to disconnect the battery tomorrow and see if that might be the problem.

Do you have another key to try?

Yes, I've tried both PK3 keys and both produce the same results. I hope it's the battery and not something with the anti-theft system. I'm fearing a wiring or sensor problem....you know, hope for the best but expect the worst!

Thanks for your reply, btw.

What does the DIC say the battery voltage is? How old is the battery?

The DIC says the battery voltage is 10.4. I bought the car last November and haven't had the battery out so I really don't know how old the battery is. I have been having the Service Theft System intermittently on the DIC since purchasing the vehicle...seemed to appear especially in the cold weather.

The car will not start with 10 volts. Charge the battery, or buy a new one.

Thanks again for the replies. I will change the battery this weekend and hopefully that will solve the problem.
