Estimated Cost: FREE - $30 + labor, depending on if you have the materials on hand.

Filthy wheels
Problem: The surface of the rim is covered in brake dust, rust or tar.
Solution: Wash the wheels the best that you can with soap and water, and then use some Mother’s Mag and Aluminum polish on a rag. You can either work it with your finger, or with a Powerball Mini. http://www.mothers.com/02_products/05100-05101.html
      Estimated Cost: $5-10 + labor

Honestly i wouldnt use Mothers Mag polish. I had rear brakes that looked like dirty gold rims because of all the rust that was on my rotor from the previous owner. SOFT SCRUB powered through and completely shined it up. I had tried Mothers Mag polish but it was barely able to scratch the surface of the rust.

Nothing wrong with the Mothers polish, I use it often when detailing. When I come across filthy wheels though I use an acid wheel cleaner.

The mothers polish was great for the weak rust spots, but it left white crud all over everything that I didnt wipe with a towel, come back five minutes later, and wipe with a towel again. Dont get me wrong, it will get your wheel clean, but general SoftScrub made for a much easier clean.

They aren't missing. For some reason, Photobucket says that we're over our bandwidth limit for the month, so they can't be viewed until next month.

The bandwidth will be reset on the next month cycle which begins on 9/16/13.

If someone wants to pay for the unlimited bandwidth it would be $30/year.

Help! knocking noise, when I crank my 03 Bonneville Se, then its like a ticking noise. A couple of folks listened, one said engine replacement off the back, the other said it could be rod bearings or lifter.

Girlonfire, you should start your own thread in the 2000-2005 section. Post a video of the noise if possible. That will help us figure it out. Also, where are you located?

I want to thank you for this great thread. I have used several of these write ups. I just now finished installing a Dorman intermediate steering shaft and the link provided was more than helpful with pictures. What a difference that new ISS made! My next project is too install the shift kit I got to get rid of the hard shift.
Thanks again for all the info.

I am having a bunch of problems with acceleration and heavy KR when the boost goes above 3. I have read that it could be a plugged CAT. How often does this happen? is there another way to diagnose the CAT?
Thanks
Wolf
