Hi. I was driving with the driver's side heat set on 90 degrees to warm it up quickly one cold morning here in Pa. All of a sudden I got a whiff of a burnt plastic type smell for a split second. Then I noticed the cool air was blowing from the driver's side heat vents. The passenger side and rear heat vents are blowing nice hot air. Can anyone tell me what happended? I have read about the air mix actuator...and suspect that it burnt out? If that is the problem...does the console have to be removed to get to the driver side actuator? I checked the diagram posted here but when I look for it there seems to be platic covers that may be hiding it. Any information on replacing the actuator will be greatly appreciated. By the way my car is a 2000 Pontiac Bonneville SE with 67874 miles on it and it's very clean. I just bought it and so far I'm still loving my 1994 Bonne' more.

You'll have to remove the hush panel (lowest part of the dash area) to get at it. The first part of the techinfo article for the intermediate steering shaft should help you there.

Then you'll have to lay on your back, and look up and toward the center of the car to see the actuator.

Thank you very much...I really appreciate your help. I will go out now and check it out. Thanks again.

Recently, I have found that I have the same problem you described in your initial post; I was curious if you found the cause of the problem/ have a solution to this malady.

thanks
