Hey guys, no real questions yet, I have the 2001 FSM, so hopefully I don't have issues. But I was wondering for those of you that have done this, or gotten far enough to access the heater core, if you had any tips, tricks or things to avoid doing while going into this?

Thanks in advance.

Take lots of pictures, and get baggies for all the bolts. Aside from that, nothing else....

Learn from the mistakes of others, that way when you mess up you can do so in new and interesting ways.

I replaced my heater core about 6 months ago. It went better then I thought it would. It does get pretty cramped working on the floor but I was able to get it done in about 4 hours. The thing I had to do was remove the glove box and drill about a 1/2 inch hole in some structural plastic behind the glove box in order to see the screw that was holding up some of the ductwork that needs to be removed. Once you put the glove box back in you will not be able to see the hole. The repair manual says that you do not have to put that screw back in when reassembling the ductwork. It seems to stay in place just fine. Not sure how a person would ever get that screw back in cause it was a pain getting it out.
