I've noticed that every time I get in my car and drive somewhere, it bounces heavily when I sit in the seat. Later I pushed down on in while it was parked and will the engine and all electronics off and it didn't bounce just once, it oscillated twice. It has 131,000 miles on it so it doesn't have much of a resale value. Is it worth taking to by local dealer and having it fixed? Anyone know how much this kind of work would cost? It seems like the shocks are shot. Overall the ride and handling is still pretty decent but not as good as it used to be.

The rear shocks are very easy to replace, so you may be able to do that yourself. The front struts are a bit more complex, so you may want to have a shop do that. I'd suggest a trusted local shop over the dealer, as the OEM struts are quite expensive compared to after-market one like Monroe or KYB.

I'm with Archon. Dealers are out to rip you off, normally. Most repair shops do work for an honest price. Just make sure you trust the area and the people working there.

Alright, I have a few shops in mind. But does anyone have an idea of around how much that would cost me?

Shocks should cost $70 in parts or so, and about 1.5 hours labor. Struts should be under $200 in parts, and 2-4 hours labor. I'm not sure what labor is in So. Cal.

Alright then, thanks. But about the struts, is that $200 each or $200 both together?

Rock Auto is showing: MONROE Part # 71685 Sensatrac struts for $62.79 each. You may want to order from them (be sure to use the site discount at the top of the page in General Chat) and then take them to be installed. Probably cheaper, since you don't deal with any mark-ups the shop will have.
