New (old but new to me) PCM installed. Must be like your '95 Bill, 5 minute job to swap it out.

It immediately threw a 536 code and the cruise control won't work. I erased the code 3 times but it keeps coming back.

I tested the coils and all of them show the same resistance. No sign of any corrosion around the grounds but I cleaned everything anyway and put it back together. Now I have to wait till Margaret gets home to give it the torture test. Try as I will, I can not get the thing to act up for me.

Meanwhile I got a phone call telling me that she can't get the door to close on my truck. :sad5: That woman is hard on equipment. :angry7:

Christine. But that's because it tried to kill me. Now it's just trying to drive me crazy.

So far, so good. Wife says car did not act up on the way home last night or on the way to work this morning. Fingers are crossed.

If all stays good for the next week or so, I'll put the old PCM back in and see if the problems return and see if my cruise controll will start working again.

You might have 2 bad PCM's with different problems. Might want to hit up someone with a spare they are willing to part with.

Good luck.

I believe it is confirmed without much doubt.

A. - Original PCM was causing the missfire and codes. 1 week with replacement PCM and no problems, swapped original back in and problems surfaced within minutes.

B. - Replacement PCM is the cause of the Cruise Control not working. When I swapped the original back in, while the missfire resurfaced, I had Cruise Control.

So, I am seriously in need of a good PCM before I can proceed much further.

Did you swap the chip from the original PCM into the replacement?

On page one he stated he did not have the eprom for the spare and was told he could put the original into it. Basically he has 2 PCM's and one chip.
