I plan on replacing both lines soon due to a leak in the lower.

Anything I should look out for?

I agree. It is always somewhat better if you use line fitting wrenches to prevent stripping the fittings. And also make sure you back up any loose connections to avoid twisting a line. If there is a lot of corrosion, douse the threads good the nite before with PB Blaster and then again 10-15 minutes before you start.

If you are going to order them from a dealer, bring your VIN#. Sometimes they need to look up your production date etc.

Does 99 still use the screwed in lines or is that the clip style connection?

Screwed.

Another option, probably not a good one, is to make your own with rubber hoses and clamped fittings. It has the sole benefit of cheapness.

I ordered from Rock Auto.

And the discount code did not work.

They should arrive today.

The FSM looks like screw in type.

I'd rather be able to lock them back down in the original positions.

Only 35.00 + shipping...not too bad

I should expect almost a total loss of transmission fluid on this project correct?

If you work fast, you should be able to change them before losing all the fluid. Maybe plug them with your finger while you work ;)

If you lose all the fluid in the bottom, it should be the same as a filter change, which will be about 7.5 quarts. A full rebuild requires 10+ quarts.

If you're losing all the fluid, why not change the filter while it's drained?

Never use hose clamps on these lines unless it's a temporary repair. 92/93 Bonnevilles had a recall for a bursting crimp that sprayed trans fluid on the front exhaust manifold.

My 93 SSEi barely survived the fire 5 or 6 years ago. Use OEM lines or name-brand replacements only.
