Im installing PEMs I already have the front and crossover off. I don't even know where to begin on the rear. how did you unbolt the down pipe from underneath or the engine bay?
-thx

combinnation of both, its not a fun job.

tackle the DP from under the car
tackle the manifold from sitting on top of the engine, make yourself comfortable with a piece of carpet or something.

Pull your O2 sensor and get it out of the way. It will cause problems if you don't pull it first. Then remove your EGR tube. Snap off the bolts at the joint between the down pipe and the manifold. Then pull your manifold studs from the head. I believe the 2 outside ones don't come put. Then comes the fun part. Turn, move, turn, twist, turn, pull. It will come put but it will fight back. Did you remove the cross brace?

I got my O2 sensor out with a 7/8 open end wrench.

Might be metric, I think that was one size my set skipped. The 7/8 felt nice and snug.

I used a 15mm 6 point wrench on the DP nuts. Had to set up the driverside one with the wrench, part of my jack handle for spacing and the biggest bfh I had to pound on it. Finally broke free.

manifold off had to grind off the pass side one the drivers side broke loose with a lot of persuasion.
next question what did you use to put the manifolds back on? upgrade to bolts or keep studs and if so where can I get them?

I used studs. Got mine from autozone. If memory serves, the down pipe was standard, and the crossover pipe was metric.

No, those were in a different box. The price wasn't to bad. But I don't remember what I paid.

Look here for the picture tutorial:
http://www.pontiacbonnevilleclub.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=5619
We had to use a Dremel on one, but he held a breaker bar in place with two extensions on it and some big socket while I pulled from the side of the car. There's a slight gash in my arm where I hit the chassis as I was pulling up, but we did snap one of the nuts loose very easily. As for removing the manifold, it's exactly as described: Hard. Lots of twisting and pulling!

I cant find the studs or nuts at any local parts store
did it come up when you looked up your vehicle by model and year or is it a generic part?

I just sent to autozone, said I need exhaust manifold studs. They went behind the counter and pulled out a blue box. Inside that there were several different studs, different size, length, threads. I just chose the one that fit.

Yep, they had everything I needed. I can't say your local one will, but the one here did.
