I get a very fast electric beeping in my Bonnie when door is open and no key in ignition. Like my headlights were left on but they are not on. Any ideas has to cause?

Still having this issue. It does it when entering or exiting the car, stops when door is closed. When I insert the key the beeping changes speed (slows down, normal key in ignition beep). Car has no codes and runs fine.

Any body have any ideas on this issue.

hi, if you leave the key in ignition and open the door, does the chime work?
try to lock the doors with the door switch - it should not let it lock with key in ignition

I think the fast chime is the reminder that a key is in the ignition.
The key cylinder for the ignition thinks
there is a key still in place even when there is not. It is probably worn badly.
Try putting the key in the ignition with the door open and wiggle
it and pull it out several times and see if the fast chime stops.

Ok. Here is the latest Only happens with drivers side door, open any other door to exit and there is no chime. The chime becomes faster after I remove key. Reinsert key and the chime slows down, start the car and the chime stops. Headlight switch has no effect on chime.

So not a headlight switch problem.
Not a key in ignition problem, chime is a different speed when key is inserted.
No codes or warning lights on dash.

I did have to replace a rear brake cylinder this winter. Could this be a brake warning of some sort. Brakes appear to behave properly.

This issue is has really got puzzled.

Your thoughts and comments appreciated.

check if parking lights are on: if the issue is with drivers door only, it sounds like key in ignition warning.

SOLVED. The rear parking light had blown the fuse. I do not drive it at night much and did not notice the parking lights were out. Replaced fuse no more chime. The chime is similar to the chime for "you left the lights on" but a faster beat.
