What bothers me is that the ECM knows that it has a boost problem? I wish I knew the logic on how it knows that? If it's just the BCS solenoid and it's feedback to the ECM then I would run my own wire

Ok so,,, the ecm is seeing a bad knock and commanding a boost dump. Fuel press is 38 at idle and over 51 at full throtle down the hyw. There is a miss under load..

They are picky about pressure. I think the PCM assumes there's a boost problem if the resistance across the BCS isn't right.

Im a little deeper into the Logic on it now. This thing is seeing a knock and dumping the Boost. it is in fact doing what it's supposed to do. The code 57 as well as the engine light only comes on while it is dumping boost. I think because it is dumping boost because of a knock the ECM doesn't know what to do and turns the light on because the Boost is being dumped at the wrong time. When I unhook the vacuum from the BC solenoid the Boost levels out but the mess is still there as well as the knock. The engine Miss is what's causing the Boost light not the other way around. Now that I've confirmed that I'm going to have to chase fuel pressure, injectors, AC Delco wires will be installed. It's just a matter of throwing a whole bunch of more money at it LOL. Thanks for letting me bounce some ideas off of you. You seem to know exactly what you're talking about. Thanks again. I'll post back on here in a few days when I get it sorted out

If it's dumping boost when commanded, it won't set the code 57.

At idle, you get several PSI negative pressure, correct?

check to see if the actuator (boost bypass) is moving freely when vacuum is applied

I have the same flow charts amd it all checks out. The first doc you linkd me too does say if it detects to much engine load it will set code? And yes at idle my guage says -65 kpa. I am currently trying to run the prom id the scan tool shows me. I know the ecm is correct but the prom is another matter? What i do know for shure right now is this thing detetcts a knock and pulls the "knock retard" back when i mash the throtle. It feels held back and drinks fuel. The cat is empty by the way ;)

Once it detetcts a knock it starts to actuate the bypass sollenoid regardles of my command for open throttle and "more" boost. I have watched it on the scanner. If i back off the throtle a bit the knock stops and the bc solinoid close and its ok. Roll onbthe gas and its fine but stomp it and everything fights itself. Tomorrow is another day. Thanks guy's

Got it!!! When stone cold the fuel pump is at 42-43 psi and the car runs like a dream. No codes no stumble. Even through warm up and closed loop. Work the pump by passing and florring it the press drips to sit at 5 psi lower right through the pump duty cycle when driving. What a turd. The guy said new pump, never trust 25 years of jo-blow workin on it. Loldo you recomend a pump brand?

I put an acdelco in 14 years ago and it still seems to be running strong. Take a look at your tank straps and hardware, they may need replacing while you're at it.

Did you also replace the fuel filter and pressure regulator?

I guess I forgot to mention, when I did it, I did the regulator first. It's a much easier job.

I am a little surprised it didn't get any better with a new pump though.

Ok so this thing is getting a pressure regulator tomorrow. I also removed the fuel rail and test fired all injectors all look good. I did find somthing interesting.... I was looking at the wiring for the knock sensor and discovered that it had been buried through and was rubbing and or grounding on the engine block. So I thought Eureka!. I covered the wire and went for a drive. The car seems no better yet again. So tomorrow it will also be receiving a knock sensor. If you'll remember my original problem is a code 57 for Boost problem. This only occurs under heavy engine load. I can watch my knock count climb and watch the Boost control solenoid attempt to dump boost all while retarding my timing because of the knock. My biggest dilemma is whether or not to believe the knock is there or, the knock is being produced by retarding the timing and dumping boost.? I've got a case of the chicken and the egg. The knock sensor wire has me wondering? If the knock sensor wire was actually grounding intermittently, would that ruin the actual knock sensor? It's not like it matters it's getting a new one with the fuel pressure regulator anyway. Wish me luck boys LOL

Im really tired of throwing money into this thing. If someone put a non supercharged engine in this what would be the difference? Comp? Im trying to run the casting number but no luck
