Starter only has 2 terminals, battery and purple wire. Purple wire Goes up to throttle or something but that thing is lose and twists easily. Any tips I should try to test starter to save taking off unnessasacryily?

Also the battery ground behind stater is covered in oil, oil pan gasket looks like. The ground to fuse firewall looks good and shiny & ground on fender next to battery looks kinda rusty

My negative terminal is also kind of stripped and can pull out negative with constant rocking. I've overtightned into the soft lead, this proabably not goid. I would some time have wiggle negative to start bc no lights or take bolt out of termianl ans reinstallm

Should i check wiring under front driver side carpet? Heard prone to rust and shortages. But all windows locks work

A can of brake clean, some sand paper, dielectric grease and a battery with working terminals would take the first 3 paragraphs of variables off the table.
