CEL has been on and off last few weeks and been grinding pretty hard starting (doesn't usually do this) and was misfiring today, took more gas than usual to get up 2 speed and shifted harder. Took it home and parked it and tried 2 leave later and cranked 1 or twice and clicked, Speedo goes up as long as you hold key.

Was hoping it's not hydrolocked. I've added coolant lately. Gonna remove all 6 plugs and hand crank or turn?
Would a clogged filter cause no start? Filter looks like it's been there a while. Any other suggestions or tricks?

I took out all 6 plugs and tried 2 crank and nothing at all now. I didn't try 2 turn manually. It won't even crank at all, makes no sound when tried 2 start w or without plugs.

If the starter will not engage even with the spark plugs out, the crankshaft position sensor will not cause that. At worst, it will cause a crank/ no start condition.

You will need to trace out where you are not getting power. Check power at the starter, check all main battery cables, and look for power on the trigger wire on the starter once you have confirmed everything else.

Also, you need to look and see exactly what the security light is doing when you try and start it. If it is blinking continuously or staying on, it could also be the issue. Also, try starting it in neutral with your foot on the brake.

I had guy try 2 start. I heard 1 single click outside in front of car you can't hear inside car.

Also Security light goes off after trying 2 start and left in ON. I tried 2 do the relearn thing but the light kept go out so didn't think this would be poblem. I also cleaned MAF sensor w 70% alcohol in spray bottle and alcoholed Vats thing on key.

Gonna try starting in N, was thinking it could be neutral safety switch.

Havent tried 2 jump but volts on dash seem like 12 she thing 2 start, I don't have a voltmeter either.

Have put 2 ICMs in and thought it could be that, replaced under warranty and out dielectric grease all over back of it and coil terminals. New alternator this year

So I *think* the thread title is saying the car cranks and in the thread it sounds like it's not.

If it's not, try to jump the starter with all the injectors unplugged or fuel pump fuse removed and see if it'll turn over.

Do it from the top.

Either:

Jump the two terminals with a screw driver that has an insulated handle.

Or

Run a wire of equal thickness or greater to the starter signal wire (smaller of the two going to the starter) from the positive terminal of the battery to the starter signal terminal on the starter.

When I pop the hood of my 95, I can look down at the starter.

And NO to terminals on the battery.

A starter has 2 terminals. +12 for power and +12 for the starter signal. Turning the key sends the start signal unless something is wrong. If you can jump the starter and it works, you know the starter and wiring from the batter is fine. The problem is associated with the signal.

I jumped the starter & nothing but sparks. Should I just replace starter or keep going thru fuses or any other tips?

Pull the starter, and bench test it.

Most auto parts places have a bench tester. So you could pull it, take it to get tested then buy a replacement of it fails.
