Hi there.

I'm new to the forum, but have been reading some of the info about the 92-99 Boonies. I bought a 95 SE as a winter beater and love it!! I didn't want to drive my '89 LeSabre T-Type in the winter.

Anyway on to my question. My subframe mounts rotted away behind the front wheels.

I saw the Dorman replacement mounts with rubber bushings, but also saw that Poly bushings from an S-10 or a Fiero could work as well?

Any insight and experience shared would be appreciated.

Thanks!!

That could be tricky. If the holes in the subframe are rotted you will need to make patch plates to repair. I've done this om my '97 LeSabre using suburban poly bushings and lower washers and some off-the-shelf McMaster-carr parts. If the holes are not rotted I think what you listed are the two options left.

Okay. I plan on checking the subframe over, and more importantly where the subframe bolts to on the body for rot. Better to find out now than throw money away on parts I can't use!

Some have tried fixes using oversized washers or plates but you have to weld them in place or the subframe shifts around.
If you do need to replace the subframe, try to find one from a warm state where they don't use road salts. It's those deicing chemicals that rot the subframes.
It will cost you for shipping but the subframe will be solid.

I got one from a yard in South Carolina shipped for around $250 total. It's in great shape.

Thanks for the input, but sadly the body's rotten where the frame mounts. Anyone need a parts car?? Lol

Sorry to hear that.
The road "salts" are truly evil to metals.
