I put new brake calipers on the front of the car today. After bleeding all the air out and taking it for a short test run I noticed that when sitting still, there is a rather loud clunking sound coming from the console when I apply the brakes.

I suspect that it is the gizmo that prevents the shifter from being moved out of park until brakes are applied, but I've never heard this sound before. It's kind of annoying.

Any thoughts on why it is doing this now and how I can quieten it down.

The lockout should be an electronically controlled soleniod. Would you say it's electronic when you apply the brakes or does it sound differently?

It's normal to hear the solenoid/relay click when you apply the brake while in Park. It's a bit loud on both of my bonnies.

It does sound like an electric solenoid now that you mention it. But I've never heard it before yesterday. It's obviously been working, never could get it out of park without the brakes being applied.
