Is their a repair part for the sending unit on my 1999 Bonni or do you have to buy the whole sender?

Yes. Dorman 692-211

But the work and effort to get to it, and it's $80 price tag, you should evaluate at this time and milage it might just be a better idea to do a whole in tank unit

Thanks for the info. Car just flipped 80k and the pump sounds good so I'm guessing it should be fine. Guess the deciding factor would be is their an access door to get the pump/sending unit out like the w-body cars have or is the tank have to be dropped?

Gotta drop the tank on pre '00 cars.

Yes, it's definitely a pain to do.
I replaced the sending unit and the fuel pump at the same time, in the hope of not having to do it again anytime soon!

Looks like I'm going to have to drop it sooner then Id like. Car ran out of gas again luckily in the driveway again. Gas gauge hits 1/8" when I shut it off things are ok, next morning I go to start it up and tank reads almost empty and car barely starts. So for now keeping it topped of no lower then half

It's the bolts that hold up the tank straps which are the major hassle.

FWIW, it's always a good idea on cars with electric fuel pumps to not let the gas level drop too low.
It is actually the fuel which cools the pump.

The gas gauge is typically not especially accurate.
In the owner's manual for your 99, it says this:
Here are some things that some owners ask about. None
of these show a problem with your fuel gage:
At the service station, the gas pump shuts off before
the gage reads FULL (F).
It takes a little more or less fuel to fill up than the
gage indicated. For example, the gage may have
indicated the tank was half full, but it actually took a
little more or less than half the tank’s capacity to fill
the tank.
The gage moves a little when you turn a corner,
speed up, or make a hard stop.
The gage doesn’t go back to EMPTY (E) when you
turn off the ignition.
If you have the large span (220) gage, the needle
moves more for a given amount of fuel. This does
not indicate excessive fuel consumption, and
is normal.

Yep I do hear you on that but running it to 1/8 tank isn't bad for it. I've had so many wbody and other gm cars and none were like this. The sender is definitely messed up. I'm actually thinking of recalibrating the fuel gauge so it reads more accurate using the tuner
