:banghead: This one is a bugger compared to my 00 to change!

Finally got the torque axis mount off but not I'm stuck on the last water pump bolt that is stuck under the power steering bracket!!! Why...why...why?!!!

Does anyone have a pictorial on removing that bracket to get the last bolt? Oh no do I have to take the coolant elbows out too?!!

I just did my 95 SSEi for the second time. Last time was about
9 years ago. I forgot what a pain it was.

Yes you have to remove (or really loosen) the power steering bracket
to get to that last bolt. That is after you remove the alternator
and the coolant elbows. I could not find a source for the O-rings
for the coolant elbows so I just put a ton of high-temp gasket
silicone on them to seal them back in place.

I now have a bad squeak from something ran by the rear belt, which
is the supercharger, AC, water pump, and tension and roller pulleys.
I can't find the source of the problem as all pulleys feel smooth and spin nicely,
but I pray it is not the new waterpump. [-o<

The new squeak is really annoying and loud.

Might as well do the intake manifold gaskets while I've got everything else off..... :banghead:

I bought the entire engine gasket kit from FelPro. It includes the coolant o-rings.
Ya it also included plastic intake manifold gaskets.

That intake manifold gasket job is much more of a nightmare than
the waterpump. You are biting off more than I would feel comfortable
accomplishing in one session. I would forget how to put it all back together.
My intake manifold gaskets took me, like, three weekends, I think.

TBH, I'd rather replace LIM gaskets than the water pump, because of the mount and bracket blocking the bolts for it. Plastic LIM gaskets are the only choice for S1, but they don't have anywhere near as many issues as S2 LIM gaskets. The Felpro gaskets should last a long time. You'll need to remove the PS pump and alternator. The PS pump bolts can be accessed through the holes in the pulley. Let it hang by the hoses out of the way. There is a bolt on the bottom of the bracket into the back side of the block. Access to it is a little tight. Others have taken a dremel to the bracket and removed some material near the water pump bolt instead of removing the accessory bracket.

skregal, your squeel might be the belt. It wouldn't be the first time a belt started squeeking after being R&R'd.

I once did the water pump, oil pan gasket, front cover gasket, and LIM gaskets. Took about 3 afternoons I think. I could probably do it in 2 now. Maybe one solid day.

All apart now and just cleaning up 200K of grease and grime.
True the PS Alt bracket does not have to come all the way off with just one bolt left in and loose, cock it out of the way.
You'd never know the old water pump is bad from looking at it.
Now comes the tedious task of putting it all back on torqued to spec.
Time is not permitting me to go further with the LIM gaskets. I could do that later without the hastle of the those brackets much more easily!

Whew that was a bugger!
Definitely an all day job.
All is good and leak free now.
Time to relax knowing I just saved a pile of cash and added value to the old gal.

My squeak is actually a chirp, chirp, chirp, chirp.
In perfect time with the engine and it's from the rear belt,
as I removed them each one at a time and tested.
It doesn't make any sense as nothing was chirping before
the waterpump replacement. Which makes me feel it is
the brand new waterpump. All the pulleys spin good and don't
make any noise when spinning by hand.

I guess I need to go to the JY to test the tensioner and routing
pulley with a spare.

BTW my intake manifold gaskets took me 3 weekends.
I am really slow anyway, but I was busy at the time
and could only devote a few hours each day. It sucked.

Rhythmic chirps can be the belt. My G8 was doing exactly that until I replaced the belts last week. Not saying it's the only thing though.
