Hey, I've recently bought a 1992 bonneville se about a month ago. It has developed a problem in the last 2 days of having some hesitation and sputtering when stepping on the throttle. It's most noticable climbing a hill, or when on the freeway and trying to accelerate. I can hear what sounds like some backfire sometimes when it happens. The check engine light is intermitantly on as well, which I assume must be related. What do you guys think it is, and what is involved in a repair. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like it's starved for fuel. Check the pressure.
