What could be causing this to happen?

The circuit is drawing in excess of the fuse rating.

How often does it happen, and how quickly? Initial guesses include a failed/failing fan motor or wiring shorting to ground.

just noticed I was running hot and they werent kicking on, Found a screwdriver wedged between the fan and the radiator on the passenger side :???: havent seen that one kick on yet but the bigger one on the drivers side has. Replaced the fuse before leaving work one night and by the time I finished the morning drive the next day it had blown again... :dontknow:

It's possible the motor melted down. I would check in to that. My first guess would be to find out why that fan isnt working, and i bet you find the source of the problem. I would start by checking the fan motor, very seldom are they happy about being stuck for prolonged periods of time.

So turns out the fan on the passenger side is toast, tried to pumper it and no movement. Disconnected and removed it until I can run to the JY to get a replacement but now the other fan wont turn off unless I remove the maxi fuse...is that supposed to happen when only one fan is connected?

Turns out the relay was toast. Replaced the fan and relay and all is good with the cooling fans.
