Okay so thankfully after putting a new set of tires, two wheel bearings and two tie rods plus an alignment, ive discovered that my blower motor turns on after i turn the car off.
I have a 1997 SSEi with the ECC. All settings work when the car is running, it displays outside temp, fan changes speed, blend door well.. blends..

When i leave the fan set on (which is usually high set to blow on windshield and floor, (i do this because i have remote start) it will turn on a few seconds after the car is turned off.

If i turn it off before shutting the car down, the blower motor doesn't blow when the car is off. I notice that the exterior temperature was blinking after it would do this and i start the car, but it wouldnt blink if i turned it off and then start the car

Is anybody able to help me out here? I really don't want to go to the dealer or any shop as i just spent a small forture on this thing a few days ago.

So now it seems to be getting progressively worse. I went for another drive, now my information system is telling me i have burnt out bulbs when i do not.
Now when i turn my car off, the display for the ECC is showing and seems to be dimming same thing with the heads up display. The CCR buttons are also staying lit up with the car off now

Could this be caused by ground bus corrosion? I've read a few posts about it and it seems to give electrical head aches when it messes up
I havent checked it as its -22c right now and i cant get it inside until i go to work tommorow

Problem sounds electronic, as a failed blower resistor will run the blower on high regardless of what you set it at.
So I don't think it is that.

It sounds like the blower control module, it's under the maxi fuse box. Best bet would be the junkyard for that, I think the 95-99 ones are all the same with the ECC. Parts stores call it a blower motor resistor.

I work at a parts store. I ordered an RU542 blower motor resistor on the opinion of a my buddy at the GM dealership who asked his mechanics.
But after work i started having those additional problems which weren't happening originally. This all just started today and got progressively worse over time / after each drive. Was fine this morning, started after lunchtime

Poor electrical grounds can produce whacky problems with electronics. It probably wouldn't hurt to inspect all your chassis grounds (easier said than done, I know!). The cold temperatures could be making things worse too.

If your ECC is flashing, it probably has stored an error code. I can't remember what you need to access ECC codes on your car (might be a dealer thing), but it might give you a clue where to look. There has been some discussion on how to access and decode the errors (albiet it was several years ago), so if you get to that point you might do a search and see what comes up.

Just noticed relays are clicking away under the passenger side dash too.
Cleaned all my connections at the battery, maxifuse panel and the two ground buses. Still doing all of the things listed above
Could this really be caused by a blower motor resistor? Could my computer be fried?

Wow, thanks i searched too and that post never came up!
Thanks for your time i really appreciate it guys
My battery is toast after last night, it was really cold and i guess things were just clicking away but im gonna put my car in the garage and try unplugging the Blower control module and see if the problems persist, which i should have tried last night after cleaning all the electrical connections it didnt dawn on me to try unplugging that thing to see if its indeed causing the trouble

Well i've tried unplugging the Blower control module. Ive tried unplugging it along with the dash control unit and the other finned box inside the dash that it plugs into. Still, there is power going to some things like the heads up display and console shifter buttons and relays are going on and off in the dash. And when the car is started, the information system is still telling me a bunch of my bulbs are burnt out.

Is there any possibility that my ignition switch is bad? Is there a way to test it? I have a rare intermittent issue with starting my car via the key; once in a while i turn the key to start and nothing happens other than the accessories turn off as if it was cranking over but there is no crank. It does it very rarely and when it does i am still able to start via the remote start button and the issue seems to clears itself.
I have also tried disconnecting the remote start and the power draw issue persists.

So what i am wondering is, can a faulty ignition switch send some power to these accessories when the key is off and play games like this as a sick joke? Or is this probably some much deeper issue, one where i should begin looking into scrapping this car and buying something else all together?

Closed my hood today and a chunk of porcelain abiut 3" long with rounded corners fell out from where my computer is. interesting will check this out later

Turns out its an RU-52 headlight resistor. Unplugged it, no change. Probably going to replace it anyway as its cracked all over and the terminals are nice and green.

Get a module in the JY and try it, unplugging proves nothing.
