How hard/easy is it to replace the oil pressure sending unit on a 97SE L36?
Where is it? Easy to get to? Tricky? Tools needed?
Brand of part to get?

I had a shop replace my power steering pump and hoses, and when I went to pick it up, the oil pressure gauge is dead and the check gauges light is on and it dings incessantly at me. I went back and talked to the shop owner, and his tech that worked on the car, and he said that during the power steering pump job, he did something to the oil pressure sender [I'm not sure what, had to disconnect maybe, or something. I don't know, I don't speak Spanish very well and he didn't speak English very well] but he explained that the sender was very rusty and completely covered with rust and needs to be replaced, but the shop was about to close for the day and they didn't have it in stock.

The shop owner is happy to replace it tomorrow for me, but I'm just wondering if this is a quick and easy thing I can do in my driveway.
All advice welcome.

It should be right above the oil filter. Accessible from under the car, or through the right front wheel well.

You'lll need a 1 1/16" deep well and a long extension. Be patient. It'll work.

I used the el cheapo parts puppies replacement and wish I hadn't. Might swap it out for a Delco when it gets on to Spring.

Yep I would like to second Bob Dillon on that, get a Delco... I have bought a couple of the cheap ones and I am done with that! They eventually leak even if you are super careful. They sell a special socket to remove them at Autozone, I always wish I have one when I am changing an oil pressure sensor but in the end I manage with ordinary tools.

X3 on the Delco unit. I used channel locks when I did mine, it took kind of a while but it did the job.
