Hi there,
I got a SES warning yesterday, so Erik @ ONBF happened to have his scanner available.
It's a '93 SSEi and I received three codes:

Code 13: Oxygen Sensor.Circuit Problem, open & shorted. Quad driver o.k.

I would assume this is the O2 sensor on the back of the manifold? Seems pretty self explanatory to change. Unscrew, disconnect the harness, then install the new one, correct?

I didn't get the code# for this, but it said my TPS voltage is too high. How can I check that? Is it adjustable? Can I fix this in my driveway, armed with my volt meter?

The last one was a neutral start switch error. Didn't get the code#, sorry.
It seems to start, and run just fine, so I'm not sure about that one. Would that have anything to do with my Traction Control not working, by chance?

Thanks!
Adam

1- on the o2, first check to make sure the wire is ok and still plugged in. If ok, then replace.

2- 93 is the last year you can adjust the tps. if your scanner has live data, this will be fairly easy. spec is between .33-.46 volts at idle.

3- this can also be adjusted. you say its fine, so I can assume it starts fine in park, but what about neutral? Sometimes they can be off only slightly and do weird things.

Thanks, Wes.
I was borrowing the scanner, so I no longer have it. Can I check it with my volt meter?
What would the settings be? I don't even know where the TPS is, so if it could be explained to me from start to finish, that would be great!

Thanks,
Adam

in the fsm I have, it says to check on pin "BB10" on the pcm harness to see the TPS signal. if you are using a DVM, the 2 setting will be fine. the tps is on the bottom of the throttle body. there are two screws that hold it on. and i believe 3 wires. if you haven't cleaned the tb lately, I would suggest you remove the entire tb, and clean it while your at it. That will make it much easier to adjust the tps.

The SC motors may be different from my NA, but my 93 TPS is not adjustable. Experience (on mine) is that the surface the variable resistor (TPS) starts making weak contact with the wiper arm, causing the resistance an therefore, the voltage to go high at idle. I would also notice the idle RPMs going high when it got really bad. Warning: the Autozone replacement TPS only lasted 1-yr. I have one from NAPA in there now. :)

my 93 L67 had an adjustable tps, so im not sure about the n/a. afaik, the series one L67s were adjustable for 92-93. then when they used the gen 3 m62 and larger tb for 94-95, the tps was no longer adjustable.

but more resistance would cause lower voltage, and a code 21, instead of 22 which is the tps voltage too high. And even on the "non-adjustable" sensors, they can be off enough to throw a code. I experianced this when I did my gen 3 swap and had to tweak or "adjust" the 94-95 non-adjustable sensor to get the voltage w/in spec. either way, the sensor could very well be the culprit. but as long as the tps can be adjusted, I would try that first.

Yep. You sure are right. Code 21 is what I would always get. My bad #-o
