I finally did the air mix actuator replacement on my 95. I had been putting it off for months
even though I had the part on my desk. I was researching and printing the tricks and procedures when the old BC site went through it's changes. Well I was able to get enough
info to proceed, but I came across a discrepancy which caused me alot of cussing and waisted time. I'll share:

All posts said the actuator was held to the HVAC box with two 7mm screws that you must blindly remove and replace. It was suggested buying finger sockets from Sears to reach up
and unscrew them because no wrench would ever fit up inside the dash from below.

The problem was screws on my actuator were not 7mm but [edit] 7/32. ARRGGGHH!
All the rest of the screws holding in the HVAC programmer were 7mm. It took me a while to
figure it out. Thankfully I never bought the finger sockets, I just wrapped some stick-on
Velcro (loop side) to a [edit] 7/32 socket and it worked great.

Hope this helps anyone who is doing this procedure.

It is a shame that the tech info is still kind of spuradic with complete cut and dry procedures and you have to search and search and piece info together.
I had some good older printed procedures for water pumps, M62 SC rebuild, and LIM gaskets, but the pictures are now gone from the hosting websites, and the old site has search issues. A lot of good, easily accessible info is now gone.
I'm not complaining, it's just a shame that the BC club took a few steps backward in the
whole messy changeover.

Still, I couldn't keep the car going without this site and the time everyone puts into it. :hail:

Good work, there's actually going to be an article on this in Techinfo soon.

For some reason though, I was under the impression that the socket was 7/32. Some changes will need to be made...

DOH!!! #-o

You're right... 7/32 is the correct size.
I will edit my original post so I'm not part of the problem I was complaining about.
I guess I was on my head for too long.

Hmm. 7mm socket worked on my 93. My old procedure for this is due for an update...I'll add that one could find 7/32 screws in there.

Is 7/32 the same as 5.5mm?
