FLHB torque converter from my 4T65E

From what I understand of how a torque converter works, the one-way clutch in the stator should allow it to rotate freely in one direction (clockwise), but not rotate in the other (counterclockwise). Right?

I can rotate the stator freely in either direction. So is the one-way clutch gone?

When I had the one out of my 89 it only rotated 1 direction. When I rotated it in the free direction it was making a clicking sound. The local TC rebuild shop said it sounded as though a spring came loose. I got a reman'd one for $98 with a lifetime warranty.
