So the day my engine started knocking, I had just filled up. And now that the car isnt going to be going anywhere for a while, and I need the gas. What's the best way to get the gas out?

My best guess would be to disconnect the fuel line and somehow extend it without damaging the end, then jump the fuel pump so it runs.

I took the end of a spare fuel rail (the feed end, not the return end), cut it off, put a hose long enough to put into a gas can on it, took out the relay for the fuel pump and jumped across it.

That sounds good. Where would I find the relay?

Yours will be on the passenger side fuse panel. I took a spare relay and gutted it and did my jumpering on the inside. Alternatley, you could just ground the relay at the PCM pin that controls it.

If you are just parting it out and don't care, punch a hole in the fuel tank and let it drain into a bucket.

Or, get a older AC charging hose that will fit a schrader valve. Attach it to the schrader valve on the fuel rail (right in front) and put the other end in a gas can. Start the engine and fuel will start to flow. Just don't go below 1/8 tank or you'll burn out the fuel pump.
