Upon buying a new one it didnt appear to be a direct replacement for a 1998 Bonneville.
After much searching, I couldnt find a single post on what people have done to replace this mount. What I did seemed to be a lot of work for what should be a simple replacement without posts expressing frustration and cursing.

Here is the old on the left and the new on the right:

The OEM mount has one solid rubber piece that is vulcanized to two metal plates. One plate fastens to the transmission and the other fastens to the subframe. There is a fail safe hook on the right side in the event that the vulcanized rubber mount lets go from one of the plates.
The new mount doesnt come with a full transmission metal plate. I figure I needed to re-use the old.

The task is to separate the old. Seeing how the rubber was still well vulcanized to both metal plates, I had to drill through the rubber mount to just separate it, not a quick task:

Once separated you need to remove the rest of the rubber from the plate, which is a real pita, I used a flat head screw driver and hammered between the plate and rubber:

There was still a few chunks of rubber holding on to the plate, so I threw it into a fire for 10 minutes, cleaned it up and painted it.

Here is an over view of whats going on. Plate in the back ground is what is removed from the old and bolted on to the new:

I then had to remove the fail safe hook from the new mount because the old mount still has it:

Then I could merge the two pieces and fasten it down with an M10x1.5 bolt:

This is what I assume is required for the driver side rear transmission mount. Any input or feedback would be greatly appreciated. It looks exactly as stock would less the bolt, so I cant imagine there being any issues. The engine isnt in the cradle, let lone the cradle isnt even on the car either, so a test fit isnt really possible.
Just want to know if I did more work than I needed to do and if the replacement is only a GM dealer type item... :dontknow:

That's the mount that took me 6 months to replace (in 2006). I loosened the entire drive train, tried to move it forward (got compression fractures in 3 vertebrae thanks to that move -ha ha), and wound up having to grind off the thickness of one nut on the mount stud closest to us in the middle of your last photo. I do not recommend doing what I did. I have no doubt someone else on the forum can tell you an easier way to do it. I wish you the best. - BC

The mount that came with my 95s were the same as the mount you ended up with, a top plate that bolts to the trans and the mount, and the actual mount it's self. Neither were just one peice.

The easiest way to get the mount out for me was to unbolt the top plate from the mount and take each part out separately. And when putting it in, I put the mount in first (unbolted), then the plate, and bolted everything up.

That mount on the right is for an 89, not a 98. That is the same one I replaced on my 89.

What is the part number you bought?

This is the same one. Cant remember the exact manufacture, but I'm sure they are all the same.

When I bought it, I didnt study the original enough to notice that they werent exactly the same. By the sounds of it, it'll work.
