Year and Trim: 1997 SE Anniversary Edition
What do youse guys think of this idea?

As some of you know, I recently bought an extremely well-kept '97 Anniversary Model SE. It only has 110K on it and at 98K had a UIM failure and replacement with (of course) a stock replacement. It looks like they did, however, use the new aluminum gaskets for the LIM. (They talked the poor schlub into a valve job and head gaskets with the UIM job.)

I figure the UIM is good for a while, but it gives me the creeps to drive it anyway. I have a sleeved manifold with a 5/8" stovepipe sitting on my workbench, but it's too *dang* cold to swap it out.

I'm wondering how easy is it to pull the 3/4" stovepipe thru the throttle body opening. Anyone think I can get in there and pull it out with an awl, and replace it with the 5/8" one? If that worked, I could use JB weld on the 3/4" pipe and re-insert it, and be good to go.

A lazy man' solution, but that's me. I might try that this weelend just for giggles.

Opinions, please?
