Ok so this is the second time I am having this problem :helpsmilie: . The last time (about a month ago) it kinda fixed itself but I swapped all the coilpacks with known good ones and it has been fine since. My 95SLE is missing like crazy and the CEL threw a code. It came up as an EGR pintle something or other I dont remember the code number. Would a stuck digital EGR make it missfire on at least 4 of the 6 cylinders? I scanned while it was running and found that the MAF was also only reading no more than 100 when reved. Is this coincidence or is this related to the EGR? I tried unplugging the MAF but it made it a bit worse. Thanks in advance.

I would think the EGR could cause it to run badly if it is open a lot farther than it should be. You could try tearing it apart and cleaning it. You will probably need a new gasket. If cleaning doesn't help and you still get the CEL, consider a junkyard - those valves are not cheap!

Thanks for the help. I cleared the code and ran it again and got the same code for the EGR. I am on my way to the parts store for a new one. I have no choice cause my wife needs the car for work tomorrow. I will post the results when its done.

Well it's all fixed! I noticed that when I was scanning before fixing that there are 3 numbers listed for the EGR. Before fixing it was 0, 2.13, and like .90 something. Now after fixing I have 0, 0, and .90 something. Looking at that second number it looks like something was off. Ok so any clues as to why the MAF is reading no more than 100gr at full throttle? Is it bad or is that where it should be? My 93 is in the 700 range at idle and goes up from there.

I'm not a fan of the EGR systems and this is the first thing I plug on every car, truck and motorcycle I have owned since it came out in '74 (73 in California). Putting exhaust gasses back into the intake drops gas mileage and horsepower at a rate that would really upset many people if they knew. All my cars perform wonderfully but give the code for EGR low flow. I couldn't care less. This 1/4 million mile Bonnie went from 18-20 mpg to 24-26 mpg. Since I rack up the mileage every year, it is a relief on my wallet. Those global warming con artists can jump in a lake unless they would like to give me the extra $2223.00 I would spend each year on gas at my current price. Of coarse, I don't recommend for anybody to do this because I wouldn't want to be responsible for you getting a ticket when the cop pulls you over to check your emission systems or failing that emissions test that we don't have here in Florida. I just wouldn't want to recommend for anybody to break the law with a car that saves money with gas mileage and horsepower.

Keep the liberals out of my engine designs!
