Looking for info on proper placement (a picture would be great) and how to replace the torque tension rods for trunk release/opening. Thanks

You need to give us more details. Did one break? Or two? Don't you have one side intact?

Question about which notch, or the procedure? I have all the answers for you, as others here might also, but typing all of them would be a big waste of time when we could simply answer the one question you have.

Both sides have broken and the two long rods are still attached at one end. Took the car to a body shop where they have ordered the replacement rods. Procedure would be helpful, but they were most concerned in the proper placement of the ends that were broken off. They broke off at the right side front and left side rear. Thanks for the help.

If someone doesn't post pictures today, I'll shoot pics of mine to show you how they go in. It can be a fairly dangerous thing, so if you do this, wear a heavy coat (carhart or leather), good gloves (leather work gloves are best) and eye protection.

By far the safest way is to remove the whole assembly.
You have to remove the rear deck cover to access the two top bolts.
You don't have to disconnect the trunk lid wiring harness but will need two people to help hold the lid and temporarily rest it on the rear window using a heavy blanket to cushion.
