i have notice a poping sound when i put my car in gear and when i turn the wheel, my friend said it could be the axel, well i replaced the axel on it and it still does the same thing could it be a ball joint or a tie rod? any tips would be helpful have to get it fix so i can go to nc next month

Is the noise happening after you put it in gear and start moving and then turning the wheels or is the vehicle stationary?

The best thing to do before throwing money at it is to inpect it. Put the car on jack stands or ramps and crawl under it. Check all the steering components for loose items. They should have movement, but not loose and sloppy. Check the motor and transmission mounts and the bolts holding the steering rack to the sub-frame.

Also jack up one side at a time and try to move the wheel in an up and down motion and then side to side. There should not be any movement there.
