Anyone have a good concise step by step on replacing the water pump? How far do you have to jack the engine to remove that front engine mount?

Just enough to barely get it off of there. Too much can pull your drive axle apart. A good practice would be to put a jack under the motor AND the A-arm on the RF side so the axle goes up with the motor/trans to reduce the angle.

From there, it's as easy as it looks. I don't recall if the L27 has to move the PS pump like the L67 does, but if you find it does (or someone chimes in) the two bolts are accessed through the pulley to swing the pump aside. At that point, it really is as easy as it looks. The big bolts/studs/nuts on the engine side of that torque axis mount can be a bear. Use the shortest extension possible and a big cheater bar on your ratchet to break them loose. The fender/frame side of the mount can stay in place if you like, but you may find it easier to remove it first to make the other half come off without much of a fight.

No need to move the PS pump on the L27. Just jack the motor up a bit, get that mount loose and it's pretty straight-forward. Unbolt, remove, replace, bolt up. Willy's right about the mount also; go ahead an pull both parts of the mount. It'll give you a lot more hand room...

I had a gut feeling about that PS pump. Been too long since I did an L27. The L67 rolls it back farther to the back of the motor, overlapping the water pump.
