soooo... I threw the # 1 rod out the block the other night and need a new motor. Since the rod went, I've hunted down an 04' GTP L67 w/ out UIM. When it arrives, how can I tell it's a series III? Are there part numbers or something on the block I can find? It should be arriving Thursday and need to know ahead of time. Thanks in advance all!

The 04 GP has the L32, not the L67.

The SC takes place for the UIM.

You should be able to differentiate them by looking at the LIM. The L32 LIM inlet is larger than the L67.

I'm guessing it won't hurt to have a bigger opening on the LIM than the UIM, right?
Should I get a L32 gasket or stick with the Gen V gasket I have now on my series II?
Are there any numbers on the block that would help identify besides the LIM?

EDIT.... DUH.. I ordered an 04 gasket for the gen V... never mind on that question.

If you are currently running a GenV on your original engine, than you should have an L32 LIM, or had your L67 inlet opened up. Didn't you?

I think you are getting some of your terminology mixed up.

L32 gasket = GenV gasket ... same thing

I'm 99% sure the block is the same casting, so the part number will be the same. It's the internals that are different. The L32 will also have black valve covers, the L67 has white valve covers.

It should have the black valve covers. As far as numbers on the block, it won't have the casting regarding the series. It'll just say GM 3800 if I recall correctly.

Yes, I cut open the LIM on the series II to match the Gen V blower and yes, I screwed up the terminology. I installed the gasket off the 04 GTP to match the Gen V.

Those are two very distinctive markings that will definitely help! Just want to make sure the guy shipping the motor doesn't screw me. Thanks you!!
