Does anyone have a vacuum line diagram of a 1996 pontiac bonneville ssei. I have rechecked myself over and over again and cant find a leak, that leads me to believe that some vacuum lines might be switched around. A diagram would be greatly appreciated. I also wanted to know what the device is behing the evap purge solenoid (I think thats what it is called) because i found a cracked line on that and was wondering what exactly it does and also what the evap purge solenoid does. Thank you

Hi, you should have a vacuum emmissions diagram under the hood right behind the hood latch.
Do you mean the evaporative canister purge valve and the evap switch? The purge valve is located right beside the altenator and the switch is behind it about 4 inches lower. There is one line connecting the two. These two contron the vapors in the fuel tank and rout them to the side of the throttlebody to be burned. The valve opens and closes allowing vapor to pass to be burned.

Is there a problem with drivability or are you just checking for leaks?

And a vacuum leak at the BCS can cause all that, so please replace that before wasting any more time like I suggested in your other topic.

Hey, when ever I suspect vacuum leaks I get a long rubber line that can replace most of the lines in the system. Then I change the line that i suspect and drive it for a while. If the rough running improves, replace the line with proper one. The reason I get a long line is that you can check all the lines and if its a short line your checking , you wont get any kinks. Be sure to secure the line properly if you drive.

This particular problem is already well-documented in another topic.
