I had a similar problem on my '92 SSE. It was more than one thing. It was the filament in the bulb and the wiring harness was pulled so tight it was going open. I replaced the bulb and relieved the stress on the wiring harness and to date have had no more problems. You could also have corrosion on/in the lamp socket, the wiring may be damaged, or a problem with a connector. Good luck and hope it is easy to fix. Also user 00Beast may have more insight. 8^)

Check your lamp sockets carefully, and probe the wires through the insulation. Corrosion is common. I MAY have a replacement socket for you to splice in if you need it.

I can darn near throw it to you from here.

Ive actually cut the wires to splice in a new socket and tried testing the bare wire with a test light and no juice is making it through that one wire.

Is there a central location the rear wires originate from so I can check the source?

Can you get a wiring schematic? It will tell you where things are. I don't like anything except the Helms, but the Haynes Manual Chapter 12 might help.

So after a closer examination of the connectors. The lead that goes to the blinker was broken @ the brass connector. Spliced the green wire to the yellow wire direct, bypassing the connector, and I'm back in business
