My 93 bonne se won't start. I drove approx 35 miles, turned the ignition off, and about 10 min. later turned key to restart and security light started blinking. I've cleaned batt. connections, swapped with known good battery, moved shift lever from park to neutral, tried spare key. Still won't start. Please help !

A blinking security light while attempting to start indicates that the security system is not reading the key <differant from reading the wrong key>. Had this happen to mine. I ended up having to bypass the system with resistors. Either the connectors broke in the column, wire broke going to the dash, etc.

This bailed me out:

The correct way to fix it, of course, is to track down the failed part, and replace it, but good luck with that

Likely cause is a bad ignition lock cylinder. The tiny wires for the security system tend to break off of the lock cylinder after so many years/lock cylinder rotations. If that is the cause, it can be bypassed for about $1 with a radio shack resistor of the propper resistance and some carefull soldering.

Sorry for the delayed response. Been very busy. Just want to thank all for their suggestions. (rjolly87,1fatcat,etc...) bonne's rollin' again. The resistor mod. got me going. This weekend I'll check lock cylinder and wiring to see which is the culprit. Thanks again !!!!!
