 Post subject: Rear Transmission Mount?

After checking out my front end last night I noitced that my rear passenger side tranny mount is desinigrating. It is round and has rubber on both sides of it. The rubber is being squeezed out and is almost all torn off.

Im just wondering what this mount is called because I cant seem to find it at the parts stores.
Also I should probably replaced this correct? since all the rubber is coming off?

Yeah thats the pic I found too but it doesnt look like that
Ill get a pic and post it.

Thats why I was wondering if it wasnt a tranny mount or it was called something else?

Maybe the dogbone, with two round bushings at each end?

EDIT: Rock Auto is calling it the Torque Strut Mount; ANCHOR Part # 2662

Yeah I saw that torque strut mount but I wasn't sure that was the correct thing.

So I guess I'm wondering if the rubber is ripping away does it need to be replaced?
It doesn't seem to effect usability of car or anything?

Yes it's the torque strut dogbone. I had to change the 94 SSEi unit. It made a heck of a noise on acceleration before I changed it. Make sure you torque it real tight. Who has a torque spec?

Only about $20.

All mount bolts are in the neighborhood of 40-50 ft/lbs. Tight is a big yes.

ok thanks but how do u know when its time to change cuz I really dont like replacing stuuf unless I absolutely have to
So as of now its not affecting the driveablility and doesnt make any noises so I would be ok leaving it??

That mount dampens engine vibrations and protects the differential and right side axle from them. If it looks like it's failing, change it. If the rubber at each end of the dogbone is shot, it will also allow other mounts to travel farther than normal, wearing them out prematurely. In this case, the Torque Axis mount (near your water pump) is taking the brunt of the abuse.

Yes and that torque axis mount is darn expensive compared to that dogbone.

That's what happened to mine. I should have changed the dogbone first. :wink:

Ok, so Ive found the part but in the description it says it is for the front of the engine is this right?
Cuz the part I need is behind the tranny on the passenger side
