Can anyone tell me what the stock exhaust outlet diameter is?

I'm planning on going back to a stock exhaust on my LeSabre. I've grown up a bit, and that car was meant to be quiet.

But I want to put a dual outlet tip on it, just to make it look nice. But I can't remember if the stock outlet size is 2.25 or 2.5 inches.

Also, does anyone have a rough idea how much a shop would charge to put in a stock muffler? My piping from the muffler to the cat is unmodified, so it should just be a simple drop-in.

Nevermind, I just took it in and did it. Cost for new muffler and a tip was $75 I want to say. Really knowledgeable guy too. I don't think anyone could have done a better job.

I'll post a thread about it eventually. I'm glad to have a nearly stock sounding car again.

these cars were not made to be loud, I like having a whisper quite lesabre but when i stomp on it I like to just hear the engine doing the work. I am in need of a new muffler too mine is breaking up inside.

I like the way it sounds on the inside. It's got a faint growl that gets a little louder as you get on it. Not really loud by any means. But definitely not stock quiet.

I'll try to get a video sometime. I'm pleased. Even more so by how quiet my car is otherwise, too. I was really expecting to find some odd noises that I hadn't heard before now that my muffler has been silenced, lol!

Only thing I'm not sure about is the sound from the outside. It sounds a little weird. The shop guy told me it was because I took the resonator off, which is also why it's a little louder than stock. I'm gonna take a video to get a better idea of the sound and also see how it is after the muffler has had a chance to break in.

If it does end up being weird, I'll just put a resonator on. Then it'll be back to stock quiet.

Glad to hear (well, not hear) your car's back to near-stock quiet!

i know how you feel man, i drove my car for about a month with the exhaust cut at the cat, and once i had the chance i went back on with stock F-body exhaust. dual tips, a little grumble and dead quiet on the inside. :beerchug:
