I have 95 Bonneville.
I have a coolant leak inside my car on the passenger side flooreboard..
As of now I am going to bypass the coolant flow thrugh the heater core (thanks to Bill) to buy some more time.
Please advice me on how to change the heater core in detail.

Thanks in advance
Manish

FYI, ran into this new member in the chatroom last night, and ended up on the phone with him to describe how to bypass the heater core to be able to drive. I gave him general instructions on the heater core, but I felt it was best for him to post here and get advice from someone that's actually replaced one in an H body.

I pulled the dash out. This was one of the first things to go and was about my first car repair. So it took me a few days actually. Taking the dash out is a pain. If you look at where the hoses go you can get a pretty good idea where the heater core is. Once you remove enough of the dash, you'll be able to see a bunch of black boxes. One of those is the heatercore. Remove the black plastic cover and you should be able to get it out after a few nuts. Remember to disconnect all of the thicker yellow wires as those are air bag wires. They have the potential to go off even if the battery is not bolted in.

Is this ECC? Or Manual/knob HVAC?
In the real world Coldscrip is probably right about dropping the dash. However, my curiosity got the best of me and I checked to see if All data had a procedure.
Could this be right? They show (for a 93 w/ECC):
REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Drain cooling system.
2. Heater hoses from heater core
3. Programmer. (Disable SIR first by unplugging yellow connectors)
4. Retaining screws and heater core cover.
5. Retaining screws and heater core from vehicle.
I am sure they have over simplified it. I can't imagine getting my bones twisted around to do this. However, the fall back plan could be to yank the dashboard (arrrgghhh) (see below)
Just thought I would throw it in here for discussion.
Anybody have a 95 FSM?

Added free info :)
In contrast, (for 93) they show this for the Dash removal (aka Instrument Panel or IP) (of course w/pictures) :angry7:
Remove:
1. Lower console (if equipped).
2. Auto trans control assembly (if equipped with console).
3. Release cables.
4. Auto trans cable bracket (if equipped with console).
5. IP trim plate.
6. Steering column filler.
    o Lower steering column.
7. IP compartment insert screws and insert by pulling rearward.
8. Bolts to steering column support bracket brace.
9. Bolts to dash panel.
10. Bolts to IP support bracket.
11. Bolts to steering column support.
12. Electrical connectors, including antenna coax cable.
13. Aspirator hose.
14. IP assembly.

You will need a cable tool to undo the factory spring clamps on the hoses to the heater core buried between the strut tower and the firewall.

Manish, I'm very pleased the bypass worked. Our chatroom is a very valuable tool sometimes!

Good luck with the work. The good news is you can plan the work for a convenient time now with the bypass.
