HI,

I am finally getting around to replacing the fuel level sending unit on my 97 SSEi, (because the gauge reads full until the tanks is empty). I figured i would also replace the fuel pump while i had the tank out as i remember this job being a pita. However, my local jobber says all these parts are dealer items and unavailable to her. The car is also throwing a P1441 and it seems that the purge valve needs replacing as well...also unavailable to the jobber. We checked the SE parts and they are available.

do i really have to get these parts from a dealer or is there another after market source?

thanks,
peter

PITA job, the parts are available aftermarket but the quality varies. You get what you pay for. Change the sensor on the tank while your at it. Mine went bad after the job was done, which trips an evap code. I just left it that way and disconnected the whole darn evap system.
