i justs bought a 1999 SLE and the A/C clutch is rattling driveing me nutz i turn on the A/C ant it goes away but i do dont want the A/C on all the time how do i fix this? do i need a new compressor or can i fix the spacing or somethin so it stops rattling?

You can purchase the clutch and bearing seperatly from most auto parts stores.

how hard is it to remove the compresor from the car and put it on a bench and change the cluch? anny one have anny step by step directions on how to do this? thanks

ummm.......you don't. Not if you don't want to recharge the system.

can u put a cluch on in the car? i have a friend with a A/C michene so he can recharge it for me no big deal there.

I'd say it's very difficult to replace a A/C compressor clutch while the compressor is still installed. As for your friend refilling it, he/she if verst in A/C will tell you that when ever you open up an A/C system it's not just a simple refill that's in order. Once any condensation enters the system there may be problems downt the road, therefore evacuate the system, remove the compressor and replace the clutch as well as adjust it. Then I believe replacing the orifice tube and some say the dryer and put a pump on it to remove any condensation, then refill the system. Again if your friend is an A/C tech then he/ she will know this.
