Just wondering if I will need to replace the whole heater core box or just the outside cover?

Here's the outside cover on mine.. It was broke in half when got the car but held together right now with duct tape until I could get a replacement. Is this the only thing I will need to get? I found a guy who is giving me the part for free as long as I pull it from the car. Thanks

I would just do the cover. It may have been cracked from a careless technician in the past trying to access something. Is there any evidence of collision damage?

The guy that I bought it from said he replaced the heater core and broke the cover while trying to put it back on.

Does it look like the core is leaking? Is the other section of the case broke? If not, just do the cover.

edit: Also make sure the door is ok.

The core is fine with no leaks and the backside of the box doesn't appear to be broken. The old one went on just fine besides me having to tape it on there for the meantime. Also, in the pic you can see the white lever that rotates when you adjust the settings, on the backside of the heater core box there is another lever. Is there something that connects the 2 levers together? The one on the back of the cover does not move like it is supposed to. I forget what that one controls. When I put the broken piece back on and flipped through the setting, the lever on the broken side moved but the other did not. I was thinking that there is something that connects the 2 together?
